Protect Your Plants With This Organic Mixture
Updated: Feb 9, 2022
The reason why more and more people are growing their own food, is because we can be in full control of what goes into our gardens. Almost all foods in stores; including those that claim to be organic, are sprayed with pesticides.
We get it, it helps keep bugs and other pests from ruining crops, but at what expense? Our health! I have to admit, it's a lot of work keeping bugs and animals from eating the things I grow, but it's worth it, and it makes me appreciate small farmers even more. A couple of years ago, I found a way to prevent and kill pests in my garden with natural ingredients, and it works really well. I spray this mixture at least twice a week or as needed. This mixture helps prevent bugs like squash bugs, white flies, cabbage loopers, aphids, and more.
Here's what I use:
Cold Pressed Neem Oil (I used Bliss or Milania)
Warm Water
Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap
And or peppermint essential oil
Add 1 tbsp of neem oil to 1 gallon of warm water. Don't use cold water, it will cause the neem oil to solidify. Add a few drops of peppermint soap and or peppermint essential oil and shake. Sometimes I like to use both to make it stronger. Spray early in the morning before the sun comes out or late in the afternoon to prevent your plant leaves from burning. Think of it as if you're on a beach and you've just come out of the water. Now the sun is beating on your skin, frying it. Plants leaves are sensitive. So it's important to water, fertilize, etc. during certain times of the day.
