Gifting A One Year Old
Updated: May 9, 2020
Figuring out what to get your baby for his or her first birthday, can be challenging. Seems simple, but it's not.
You don't want to spend too much money, but you want to get something nice. Something that will last, something interactive and educational.
Jai's first birthday was approaching, and we were having a hard time figuring out what to get. It's been 12 years since I've had a baby, and all these new toys are a bit much.
We wanted to get something simple but fun. Since he likes to "hammer" everything, I thought a tool set would suffice. I found this one in Target. It was the last one on the shelf.

And sure enough, he went straight for the hammer. He walls around with it all the time.
This keeps Jai occupied. He loves pushing the beads around. And as he gets older, this will be a good tool for teaching him how to count, add and subtract.

We have an old version of this that doesn't work anymore. This is a newer version, which looks more baby like. It's a great teaching tool and it's softer than the older version, so it makes a good cuddle buddy for Jai.

Man, I remember this toy when I was a kid. It looked different of course, but it was a fun toy. It's not an educational toy, but Jai loves when it vibrates and laughs every time.

I think we did good with these toys. And we didn't spend much money. Besides, we want to save big ticket items for Christmas and next summer. So these will do for now.
