DIY Rose Water

Updated: Jul 24, 2022

Rose water not only tastes good, but it's also good for your skin. And unlike store bought rose water, there are no hidden ingredients.

Rose water benefits include:

  • toning the skin

  • clearing up acne

  • hydrating the skin

  • cleaning your pores

  • clearing dark circles and puffy eyes

Directions

Get your hands on some fresh, organic roses. If that's not possible, using dried roses should work fine. I went out front and picked some off of our rose bushes.

If you are using fresh roses, pick all of the petals off and make sure you don't have any bugs or dirt on them. You might even want to rinse them off.

Put the petals in a pot of water. I used about 2 1/2 to 3 cups of water. And about 5-6 cups of rose petals. Simmer the petals for 10-15 minutes, or until the petals lose their color. Then strain them.

Let the water cool, then place it into a clean, sterilized bottle. Store it in the fridge and it should last for up to a month.

If you'd like, feel free to add a little witch hazel to your rose water.

How to use it:

For your face, you can dab some of the rose water onto a cotton ball, or put some into a small pray bottle. You can also add it to your bath to soothe and moisturize your body. For a tasty treat, use it like extract to make rose sorbet or ice cream. You can even try it with some tonic water and vodka.
